Because a couple people asked, here’s my Basil & Dr. Dawson. And yes. As one person mentioned, Dr. Dawson is made of parts of a hamster as well as mouse. I couldn’t find a pudgy enough mouse.

Yes, I planted photos on the bookshelf.
Funny though, someone called me on the use of the word ‘peruse’, saying it means to consider thoroughly, and what I meant was ‘browse’.
This was a screencap from The Blind Banker, and he was looking through the bookshelf, trying to find a inspiration for the book code. I maintain that perusing was what he was doing.

Well, other than Sherlock, nobody has officially been designated a character counterpart (though those are pretty good ones, I’ll admit.) In my other Star Trek one, John was Kirk but I changed his height and stature, and Lestrade was Bones, but I changed the colour he was wearing and his posture. So it all depends on what fits!
